AGM Announces Recon Release on SUN Microsystems 64-Bit SUN BLADE™ 2500 Workstation
HOUSTON, Texas, (April 7, 2004) AGM, the provider of advanced 3-D geological interpretation and visualization solutions announced today the release of its flagship Recon™ product on Sun Microsystems’ Sun Blade™2500, Sun’s 64-bit, dual-processor capable workstation, designed and built to visualize and solve complex geoscience problems.

Using its 100 percent binary compatible Solaris™ 8 Operating System, Recon users will be able to migrate seamlessly to the Sun Blade 2500 system from previous generation Sun workstations including the Sun Ultra™ 80, Sun Blade 1000 and Sun Blade 2000 workstations.

Recon™ is the industry's first integrated 3-D geological interpretation tool for geologists, geophysicists, and engineers. Built from the ground up using next-generation technologies, Recon is the best-of-class product of choice for advanced 3-D geological interpretation.

“The combination of the Sun Blade 2500 workstation’s latest UltraSPARC™ IIIi processors, up to 8GB of DDR memory and dual Sun XVR-1200 Graphics Accelerators has created an ideal desktop platform for Recon’s advanced 3-D geological interpretation solutions,” said Robin Dommisse, AGM’s CEO. “Sun Blade workstations have long provided an ideal 64-bit environment capable of handling the increasingly more complex datasets managed by Recon.”
“Sun is thrilled that AGM is using our highest- performing Sun Blade 2500 workstation to run its state-of-the-art Recon geological interpretation and visualization solution,” said Nick Weston, global manager, Oil and Gas Industries, Sun Microsystems. “The powerful combination of Sun’s powerful 64-bit workstation and AGM’s industry-first integrated 3-D technology offers a best-of-breed solution for the oil and gas industry. “
AGM and SUN are demonstrating the Sun Blade 2500 workstation running Recon version at the annual meeting of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), April 18-21 in Dallas, Texas.
Recon™ delivers an industry revolution in 3-D geological interpretation performance with true 3-D subsurface solutions, blazingly fast interpretation updates and seamless integration with Landmark's OpenWorks and SeisWorks. Change any part of your interpretation, or add new data, and all 3-D surfaces, cross-sections, isochores, and zone attribute maps immediately update to reflect the changes. The effect on your workflow speed and approach is dramatic and translates into higher quality interpretations, lower risk, and improved success.
